Another malady resulting from heat, pressure, occlusion, and friction is categorized as Acne Mechanica. Acne Mechanica often occurs on the shoulders, back, head and other areas covered by tight synthetic clothing or protective gear and equipment such as helmets and shoulder pads. Acne Mechanica can be avoided by wearing clothing made using cotton or synthetic materials designed to breathe or wick away moisture from the body. Also, cleaning the affected areas following activity is important as a part of proper skincare routines.
